A “Returning to” mind

Oliver Sacks observes patients who suffer migraines hearing echoing of sounds, long after the sound has ceased. Echoes, traces, reflections, refractions, reverberations, iterations. Perhaps migraines play a bigger role in this project and in my artmaking and view of the world than I had thought. (to read: German musician Alwa Glebe speaks about the influence it has had on her music and artistic practice.)

In this rabbit hole I found a great quote by Oliver Sacks, (another migraine sufferer) that is descriptive of my current processes of researching, writing and at artmaking:

“I do have a ‘returning to’ and an ‘adding to’ mind. I’m not a terribly clean writer. Perhaps I’m not a writer at all, but the project is never over.”
